Environmental Laboratory Analyst I (Laboratory Technician)The Environmental Laboratory Analyst I (Laboratory Technician) supports environmental testing operations by receiving, preparing, and processing samples in accordance with EPA, ASTM, and regulatory protocols. This entry-level role is ideal for candidates with science-based education who are seeking hands-on laboratory experience in a regulated environment.The position requires a strong safety mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with laboratory staff and plant personnel.Key ResponsibilitiesSafety & ComplianceWork safely and identify/implement corrective actions for unsafe conditionsFollow OSHA laboratory safety requirements (29 CFR 1910)Maintain compliance with EPA, ASTM, and other regulatory protocolsSample Receiving & ProcessingReceive and log environmental samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)Handle and prepare inorganic and organic samples for analysisPreserve samples as required (e.g., acid preservation, proper storage conditions)Support coordination of sample sub-contracting (sub-outs) when necessaryLaboratory Testing & SupportAssist with wet chemistry testing (pH, ammonia, alkalinity, turbidity, etc.)Prepare samples using approved analytical methodologiesSupport Laboratory Analysts as needed during testing activitiesDocumentation & AdministrationMaintain accurate records in LIMS and other data systemsPerform peer review of data entryOrder and maintain appropriate sample bottles and containersManage laboratory supplies and inventoryPerform routine laboratory housekeepingCustomer & Team SupportAssist customers with sample container ordersCommunicate with customers to clarify analysis requestsCoordinate with internal and external work groups to ensure timely and accurate processingRequired Qualifications0–5 years of laboratory or related experienceSome college coursework required (Science-based studies preferred)Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a science-related field preferredStrong attention to detail and ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively with plant personnel and cross-functional teamsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)Experience using LIMS or similar laboratory data systems preferredPreferred ExperienceExperience in a NELAC-accredited or highly regulated laboratory environmentExperience in high-volume sample receiving departmentsWet chemistry laboratory experienceKnowledge of EPA and ASTM testing protocols
