Environmental Intern

This position will be located at the Department of Natural Resources, Southwest Regional Office, 2040 West Woodland, Springfield, MO 65807 between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm with a variable shift.
Please note: This is an unpaid internship
Duration of Assignment : October 1, 2026, through April 1, 2027, for hours not exceeding 200 hours

• Explore position options within the Department of Natural Resources
• Work with the Water Pollution Control Section of the Southwest Regional Office
• Gain experience as an intern doing a variety of activities to ensure a well-rounded experience with the Division of Environmental Quality.

• A valid Missouri State Driver's License

• Education in the field of science (i.e. biology, geology, chemistry, engineering, physics, environmental sciences, etc.).
• At least one year of college experience in the field of science.

• Knowledge of the Division of Environmental Quality
• Understanding of pollutants that could impact the State of Missouri
• Understanding of the permitting process in Missouri for Environmental Protection
• Working in a team environment
