We have a safety-commitment to our teams and are looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist or Manager to join us in our mission to successfully develop scalable fusion energy.Responsibilities:Develop and support a comprehensive, empowered safety culture within a dynamic research and development environment.Build, administer, and instruct safety training, procedures, and compliance systems tailored to the various internal audiences.Partner with internal teams including facilities, lab management, supply chain, human resources, finance, and technical teams to achieve objectives and maintain a safe and compliant workplace.Proactively engage with employees at all levels to better understand their concerns and work hazards, as well as facilitate all aspects of daily safe work conduct.Continually assess environment, health, and safety risks of Zap Energy operations and make recommendations to teams and company leaders.Provide technical expertise in occupational safety and health, environmental compliance, and sustainability.Drive thorough investigations for all incidents and accidents for all sites and ensures timely completion of corrective actions.Lead the team in developing effective root cause analysis and countermeasures.Keep up to date on regulatory requirements and industry trends.Proactively plan for and share considerations with leadership for future facilities, processes, equipment, suppliers, and materials.Engage with relevant consultants, external agencies, and other regulatory organizations at the local, state, and national level.Qualifications:Manager - Required:Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety or related field10+ years of total EHS experience3+ years of experience managing an EHS team5+ years of EHS experience in a corporate laboratory / research and development (R&D) environmentDemonstrated ability to develop, deploy and administer EHS Programs in R&D organizationsExcellent verbal, written and customer service skillsSpecialist Required:Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety or related field7+ years of total EHS experience5+ years of EHS experience in a corporate laboratory / research and development (R&D) environmentDemonstrated ability to develop, deploy and administer EHS Programs in R&D organizationsExcellent verbal, written and customer service skillsPreferred:Direct experience successfully managing the following hazard classes in corporate laboratory / R&D environments:High Voltage Including arc flashFunctional SafetyThermal / Hot WorkChemical Including reactive caustic metalsLasersCompressed gasesPressure vesselsConfined spacesRadiologicalAbout You:Strong positive energy and enjoy driving improvement in the safety and well-being of othersHighly organized, excellent attention to detail, and excited by new and ambitious assignmentsDemonstrate a high degree of professionalism and integrityHave a team-mindset and actively collaborate, respectfully communicate, and be open to new ideasA self-starter and possess ability to coordinate and lead safety efforts with minimal directionThrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentWorking Place: San Diego, CA, United StatesCompany: ESR Healthcare
