Entry-Level Software Engineer – Modeling & Simulation (Onsite)We are seeking an entry-level Software Engineer with a strong academic foundation in Mechanical Engineering and a passion for software development to support performance simulation tools for product development. You will contribute to the development, testing, and improvement of our proprietary 1D and 3D performance simulation software, Dynasty, with a focus on refrigeration, hydraulic, thermal, and gas systems.Education Requirements:PhD or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related fieldNote: 2-year and 4-year bachelor's degrees will not be accepted for this role.Required Skills & Experience:Minimum 2 years of experience in C++ and Python programmingStrong foundation in numerical methods and compressible fluids solversTechnical internship, co-op, or research experience related to modeling and simulation of refrigeration and hydraulic systems involving multiphase flowFamiliarity with 1D simulation software for modeling fluid, gas, and thermal systemsWorking knowledge of software development processes, algorithms, data structures, and version control systems like GITWhat You'll Do:Design, develop, and support simulation tools to enhance Caterpillar product performanceRe-architect and implement new features for Dynasty simulation softwareDevelop simulation libraries for refrigeration, hydraulics, thermal, and gas systemsConduct software testing and maintain simulation environmentsImprove software quality, performance, and usabilityFollow and implement software development best practicesCollaborate with diverse engineering teams and provide technical user supportPreferred Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and quickly learn new technologiesClear, professional verbal and written communication skillsCollaborative team player with an inclusive mindsetPrior experience with simulation frameworks or tools (a plus)Top 3 Must-Have Skills:Strong programming in C++ and PythonBackground in numerical methods and compressible fluid dynamicsHands-on research/internship experience in multiphase flow modeling and simulationWork Authorization:Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.Sponsorship is not available for this role
