Job Description

Dewberry is seeking an Entry Level Site/Civil Engineer to join our Richmond , VA office. The Junior Engineer will perform a variety of civil engineering functions in support of a growing office. This staff engineer must be flexible, able to work independently, technologically savvy, and client focused.

Responsibilities

Civil/Site development including grading design; roadway design; storm water management systems design; sanitary sewer design, water design, and water reuse design; and erosion and sediment control design for private, municipal, state, and federal clients.

Work with a Professional Engineer in preparing all associated drawing packages, deliverables, calculations, reports, and spreadsheets.

Collaborate with design teams in other disciplines to achieve project goals and deadlines.

Fast‑paced work ranging from general civil engineering duties to technical tasks that require strong communication and capabilities in AutoCAD, Civil3D, ICPR, VADOT, MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and BlueBeam.

Position requires learning and becoming proficient in Dewberry engineering practices, standards, and other Dewberry‑specific software programs.

Required Skills & Experience

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering.
  • EIT is preferred.
  • 0‑2 years of design experience related to site development projects.
  • AutoCad required; Civil3D preferable.
  • Able to work on teams on different tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Work in a timely fashion to meet project budgets.
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Composes technical reports, permit documents, memorandums, and other written communication such as email.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Driving is a requirement; a clean driving record is required.
