Roofing Service Technician (Entry Level) — Clear Roofs and Exteriors, Cincinnati, OH

What this job actually is

We're a roofing and exteriors company doing commercial and residential work across Greater Cincinnati, and we need someone to help on the service side of the business. Service means the smaller, faster jobs that keep buildings dry: finding and fixing leaks, patching flashing, sealing penetrations, clearing gutters and drains, tarping storm damage, and doing routine maintenance walks on commercial roofs. Some days you're on a flat roof in Sharonville with a caulk gun and a broom, some days you're on a shingle roof in Westwood replacing a pipe boot. It is not glamorous, and it is not the same thing twice.

You'll ride with an experienced service tech. Your job is to learn how roofs fail, how to spot the problem, and how to fix it right the first time. We'd rather teach a good worker how to roof than hire a roofer with bad habits.

What you'd do day to day

Check the materials list and show up on time. Set up ladders and fall protection the way we train you to, every time, no exceptions. Help diagnose leaks and carry out repairs. Take photos before and after so we can show the customer what we found. Keep the job site and the truck clean. Talk to customers like a decent human being. Over time, start running smaller service calls on your own.

What we need from you

No roofing experience required. We do need you to be comfortable working at heights and outdoors in Cincinnati weather, which means July humidity and January wind. You need to be able to lift 50 lbs regularly and climb ladders all day. A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle are required, because you'll drive straight to the first job each morning rather than reporting to a shop. You need to be someone who shows up, pays attention, and doesn't cut corners, because on a roof, corners cut are how people get hurt and how buildings leak.

Nice to have but not required: any construction, landscaping, or trades background, basic hand tool skills, or an OSHA 10 card. If you don't have OSHA 10, we'll get you through it.

What you get

$20–$25/hour to start, based on what you bring, with raises as you take on more. Paid OSHA 10 and fall protection training. All safety gear and tools provided. Paid time off and paid holidays. Full time, Monday through Friday, with occasional emergency leak calls after storms.

The real upside is the path. Service techs who are good at this become lead techs, estimators, or foremen. Everyone who runs a crew here started by carrying the ladder.
