Enterprise ArchitectArlington VAAll hired employees are expected to have experience with Microsoft Copilot and/or an approved equivalent AI solution.The Lead Enterprise Architect serves as the technical authority and subject matter expert responsible for architecting, designing, and guiding implementation of enterprise IT solutions across the CISA environment. This role leads development of enterprise technology strategy, target architectures, and system designs to enable secure, scalable, and interoperable capabilities aligned with mission requirements.The Lead Enterprise Architect partners with stakeholders to ensure solutions are standards-based, compliant, and aligned with DHS enterprise architecture and security requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesDefine and maintain enterprise technology strategy and target architectureEstablish architecture frameworks, standards, and governance modelsEnsure alignment with DHS Enterprise Architecture (HLS EA) and agency policiesSolution Architecture & DesignLead conceptual and logical design of enterprise systems and servicesDevelop and maintain System Design Documents (SDDs) and supporting architecture artifactsEnsure solutions are scalable, interoperable, and secureRequirements Analysis & Stakeholder EngagementCollaborate with Government stakeholders to define functional and technical requirementsTranslate mission needs into architecture and design solutionsFacilitate alignment across engineering, operations, and business stakeholdersTechnology Strategy & InnovationEvaluate emerging technologies and develop recommendations for adoptionConduct trade studies and support technology evaluation effortsGuide modernization initiatives (e.g., cloud adoption, enterprise services integration)Business Case DevelopmentDevelop business cases and conduct Return on Investment (ROI) analysesAdvise Government on technology investment decisionsSupport prioritization of enterprise initiativesEngineering & Implementation OversightProvide architectural guidance during engineering and implementation activitiesEnsure solutions comply with security controls (NIST, DHS 4300A) and mission requirementsReview and approve design artifacts (DDD, TRD) prior to transition to operationsStandards, Compliance & GovernanceEnsure compliance with:DHS Security Policies and SELC processesSection 508 accessibility requirementsFederal data, security, and interoperability standardsEnforce architecture governance and configuration management processesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fieldAdditional experience may substitute for formal education (per Government guidance)Minimum 10 years of experience in software development or IT engineeringMinimum 5 years of experience in network architecture and designDemonstrated experience designing enterprise IT architectures within federal environmentsDesired QualificationsExperience supporting DHS, CISA, or other federal civilian agenciesExperience with enterprise cloud architectures and hybrid environmentsFamiliarity with Agile and Scrum methodologiesExperience integrating application development, network, and cloud solutionsKey CompetenciesEnterprise architecture strategy and governanceSystems integration and interoperabilityCloud and network architecture designTechnology evaluation and innovationStakeholder collaboration and executive communicationWork Environment & RequirementsAbility to support classified environments up to Top Secret/SCI clearanceCoordination with Government stakeholders across multiple locationsSupport both on-site and approved remote work environments in accordance with contract requirementsThe posted salary range is a good-faith estimate.
