What you'll do

You provide technical and delivery leadership for a small group of engineers building and supportingTuGo’sweb, mobile, and back-end systems. This hands‑on role combines software development, AI-augmented delivery practices, andmentorship to help the team deliver high quality solutions efficiently and at scale.

The Team Lead does not directly manage people, but sets the technical bar, coordinates work across the initiative, and works with the Engineering Senior Manager on planning, quality, and team growth.

Technical & Delivery Leadership

  • Lead the design, development, testing, release, and support of features acrossTuGo’sweb, mobile, and back-end platforms.
  • Coordinate sprint execution by breaking down work, removing blockers, facilitating ceremonies, and ensuring delivery commitments are met.
  • Guide technical decisions including architecture, patterns, code quality and implementation trade offs.
  • Contribute directly to development through coding, code reviews, testing and automation.

AI-Augmented Development

  • Champion the use of AI coding tools(Claude Code, Copilot, and similar) as a core part of daily delivery.
  • Establish standards for using AI responsibly in alignment with TuGo’s AI Sensible Use Policy, validating output for correctness, security, and maintainability.
  • Build and maintain internal knowledge resources including runbooks, prompt libraries, and technical documentation.
  • Evaluate and prototype practical AI use cases, including LLM, RAG, and agentic based solutions.

Quality, Reliability & Support

  • Support system reliability and contribute to SRE and operational best practices.
  • Participate in Tier 2 support and incident response activities.
  • Monitor key delivery and quality metrics such as throughput, defect rates, uptime and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead root‑cause analysis for production issues and ensure durable fixes.

Mentorship & Team Development

  • Mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, and technical one‑on‑ones.
  • Support onboarding and help new team members become productive quickly withinTuGo’sAI-augmented development environment.
  • Support the Engineering Senior Manager with performance feedback, development planning, and hiring input.

Business Alignment

  • Connect engineering work to measurable business outcomes including delivery speed, reliability and customer experience.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Compliance, and other stakeholders to deliver effective and appropriate solutions.
  • Contribute to planning, cost estimation, resourcing, and technical feasibility for new and ongoing initiatives.

What you’ll bring

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience delivering production systems
  • Strong hands‑on experience with:
  • Back-end: Java, Spring Boot, microservices, event-driven architecture, REST APIs
  • Front-end: React and Grails
  • Mobile: Flutter
  • Data: NoSQL and relational modeling
  • Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, or similar tools in daily development workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code for accuracy, security, and maintainability
  • Experience integrating AI/LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, or similar) into applications including RAG patterns is an asset
  • Experience with secure application design (OAuth2, OpenID, JWT) and relevant standards (e.g., PCI)
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) and modern CI/CD practices
  • Experience working in an Agile environment using Scrum or Kanban methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills
