Job DescriptionAssist Engineering Manager in recruiting, developing, supervising and managing engineering personnel, and associated processes and standards. This position is responsible for leading a group of engineers and/or team leads in completing multiple large or complex simultaneous projects: design execution, quality, and mentoring. Other responsibilities include assisting with engineering group resource planning and assigning of projects.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Supervision and development of engineering teams specializing in one or more of ACCO's design build services, such as HVAC, Plumbing, Process Piping, Industrial, Refrigeration, or Controls.
Engineering Management may require that an Engineering Supervisor's area of focus change within these specialties as dictated by the needs of the company.Direct mentoring and training of engineers and Team LeadsAssign, coordinate and schedule all incoming projectsEnsure Project Managers defined scope is provided and delivered in accordance with project schedulesEnsure application and constructability reviews are conducted on projectsDaily supervision of engineering personnelAssist in development and ongoing maintenance of standard BIM and engineering practices including quality assurance process and proceduresAssist in performance reviews for Engineering Department personnel and make recommendations to Engineering ManagerAssist with pre-sales efforts including system selection / evaluation, code and application reviewEvaluate potential projects and approaches to minimize corporate risk in conjunction with Engineering ManagerDevelop a collaborative and engaged culture between engineers and other departmentsMaintain engineering standards and policies in conjunction with Engineering ManagerEffectively and professionally communicate with colleagues and project team membersManage time to meet project schedules and task deadlinesOther duties as assigned by ManagerPosition Requirements:BS in Engineering or Construction Management7+ years of experience with 4 years in a leadership position managing engineersProfessional Engineer license highly desirableExcellent understanding of engineering fundamentals and constructabilityExcellent familiarity with Building Codes and industry standardsStrong understanding of building modelingSkilled in developing teams and managing peopleACCO Competencies:Proactivity / Initiative: Recognizes what needs to be done and accomplishes it in a manner appropriate for one's level/position and with minimal supervision.Perseverance: Shows the wherewithal to fight for difficult goals despite challenges and to bounce back from adversity.Insight: The ability to gather and make sense of information that suggests new possibilities.Engagement: Shows a knack for using emotion and logic to communicate a persuasive vision and connect with people.Teamwork: The ability to effectively work toward common goals with others by supporting, encouraging, and sharing information in an authentic and approachable manner.Big Picture: Understands and contributes to organizations' short- and long-term business strategy.
