Engineering - Process Engineer IILocation: Slingerlands, NYDuration: 6 months Contract (Potential conversion)Pay Rate: $43 - $48 per hour on a W2 PositionSummary: The Process Engineer II is an experienced team member that leads and supports activities related to the development, improvement, and continual operation of products. The position is responsible for independently driving the execution of projects and contributing to the overall success of our engineering department, playing a key role in the development and refinement of manufacturing processes, material flow, and standard operating procedures. The PE II is expected to mentor junior engineers and serve as a subject matter expert within the Operations team.Core Duties and Responsibilities:Develop a deep understanding of projects including relevant codes & standards, hydrogen production technology, customer site requirements, troubleshooting history, design limitations, and optimal system performance targetsLead the creation and ownership of manufacturing procedures to support the assembly, installations, and continual operation of products across multiple product linesLead data-driven analyses to improve manufacturing processes and material flow; present findings and actionable recommendations to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholdersDrive the evaluation and improvement of inspection processes and tooling designs through structured data analysis and closed-loop feedback, aiming for enhanced productivity and quality assuranceLead the implementation of process improvement projects, Kaizen and training events using Lean-Sigma tools, including safety, ergonomics, 5S, Kanbans, statistical process control, standard work, and visual controlsSupport capital investment justifications and project business cases through data analysis and ROI modelingDevelop, own, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to ensure consistent, repeatable manufacturing and service operationsProvide technical guidance and mentorship to other junior staffBuild and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional colleagues including Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Product Engineering to align on priorities and deliver impactful solutionsAlways represent in a professional manner in all interactionsPerform all other duties as assignedEducation and Experience:BS in Engineering or a STEM-related discipline; MS preferred3–6 years' experience in Engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or process environmentProficient with Microsoft Office software; experience with process simulation or CAD tools preferredExperience with ERP/MRP systems preferredLean or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) preferredStrong verbal and written communication skills with ability to present to leadershipUncompromising dedication to qualityDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail and independent problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple projects concurrently with minimal supervisionAbility to read and interpret engineering diagrams and process documentation
