Engineering ManagerThe Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the engineering team and ensuring that key projects and engineering duties are fulfilled. They are responsible for solving any engineering issue that comes up in a project. A few of the main duties of an engineering manager are answering technical questions, proposing budgets for projects, training new employees, and working with various other departments.
They must also prepare reports on progress of various projects.Duties and Responsibilities:Directs and oversees the development and implementation of engineering policies, programs and processes which promote improved, safe, reliable and efficient performance of projectsParticipates in the development, evaluation and introduction of new technology changesEnsures that improvements in systems, processes and procedures are identified and delegated to the perspective engineers for team implementationIdentifies and implements improvements in processes and proceduresProvides expertise and focused attention on the company's growing and emerging technologiesEstablishes plans to improve the cost effectiveness, timeliness and reliability of engineering department operationsDirects the development and implementation of work process changes needed to improve efficiency, quality and productivityPlans and manages the department's financial resources through defining and developing capital, operations and maintenance budgetsManages, selects, coaches, delegates and develops engineering staffAssesses the need for, and oversees implementation of, programs to ensure employees possess technical and behavioral skills required to support project/operating plansProblem-solving and provide solutions to engineering process problemsIdentify and recommend improvementsLeads, develops and delegates to the engineering team with the writing process, policies, procedures, etc.Assign tasks to engineers, gauge progress of various projects and collaborate with customers and various teams/departments on projectsPropose budgets, create reports with project manager and other departments for various projectsQualifications:Minimum required bachelor's degree (MBA or Master's in Engineering field preferred) and 5+ years of engineering experience in Aerospace industry with increasing responsibilitiesMust have superior analytical and math skills and ability to make quick decisionsAbility to communicate in English and any another language is a plusDemonstrate problem-solving abilities and ability to collaborate with multiple departments on various levelsAbility to create a set of qualifications for a new product and/or existing productInterpersonal skills to manage a team of engineers and give constructive criticismCascade and translate strategies into action plansCommunicate goals and priorities (company, department, team); ensure line of sightDrive accountability/monitor progress and communicate, communicate, communicateExperience with writing procedures, work instructions, processes and policies
