The Electronic Component Products Division is seeking Engineering Manager(s) to lead component product platform organizations supporting the development, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement of Caterpillar's electronic component portfolio. These leaders will provide technical, operational, and people leadership while partnering closely with suppliers, procurement, systems, software, manufacturing, and aftermarket organizations to deliver Component Product Platform commitments. The role is accountable for talent development, product quality, execution excellence, supplier engagement, and long-term business success across the component value stream. Provides strategic oversight and alignment across global engineering organizations and support teams.

Engineering Manager (Leader of Leader)

Direct supervisor for Engineering Manager, product line managers and engineering team members. Accountable for staffing, coaching, mentoring, performance management, career development, and fostering an inclusive, high-performing team culture. Accountable for organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, leadership development, performance management, and creating a culture of accountability, agility, and continuous improvement. Leads organizations consisting of approximately 10-25 engineering professionals. Develops management capability, ensures organizational effectiveness, aligns resources to strategic priorities, and drives execution across multiple product platforms and engineering teams.

The role provides leadership in the following areas:

People Leadership & Change Management

  • A change-oriented leader who translates strategy into execution, creating clarity, urgency, and accountability to deliver measurable outcomes. Builds strong cross-functional alignment and effectively influences stakeholders to move priorities forward and resolve barriers to execution.
  • Develops and coaches direct reports and emerging leaders, providing opportunities for increased ownership, decision-making, and leadership growth. Builds the next generation of leaders by recognizing potential, providing meaningful feedback, and creating a strong pipeline of capable talent.
  • Maintain an active opportunity funnel and prioritize work based on customer problem severity, learning value, business economics, timing, technical feasibility, resource availability, and strategic fit.

Global Product Leadership

  • The team has global product responsibility for the electronic component product lines which are leveraged across Caterpillar machines. The manager(s) will lead the team in new product introduction, life cycle management, problem resolution, cost control, quality, manufacturing audits, availability, supplier resilience, compliance and regulations, and managing intellectual property.
  • Capture lessons learned from early deployments and customer projects to inform future product requirements, product line decisions, commercial assumptions, and lifecycle improvements.
  • Frame ambiguous opportunities into clear learning plans, decision points, scope options, business cases, product plans, launch inputs, and lifecycle management recommendations.

Supplier Leadership

  • The team is highly engaged with various component suppliers globally in the development and manufacturing of its product lines.
  • Actively engage with procurrent and supply base to drive visibility to supply chain readiness to meet commitments
  • Actively engage with supplier engineering and internal teams to work risk mitigations if engineering solutions or alternate parts are deemed necessary to meet supply risk

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Technical Excellence: Deep knowledge of electrical and electronic component NPI, component product line management, end to end component product line development value stream, RFQ, APQP, TFC, manufacturing audits, product obsolescence management, operational excellence through defect containment and prevention across the value stream, knowledge of component EC procedures and ability to solve technical challenges.

Mentors others to enhance their technical competence and its application to achieve more effective technical solutions.
