Engineering Manager- Automation- Keene, NH

This role is approximately a 50/50 split between engineering leadership and direct technical contribution. The successful candidate will lead projects involving custom machinery, automated manufacturing systems, robotic cells, and production equipment while mentoring engineers and driving engineering excellence across the organization.

We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a growing Industrial Automation engineering team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced engineering leader who enjoys remaining actively involved in technical design while guiding a team through complex automation projects.

Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team including mechanical, electrical, controls, and CAD professionals
• Maintain an active technical workload, contributing directly to design, review, and troubleshooting efforts
• Oversee compliance engineering and risk assessment activities
• Assign work, manage engineering resources, and ensure project milestones are met
• Review designs, drawings, and prototypes to ensure quality, manufacturability, and customer requirements are achieved
• Establish and maintain engineering standards, design processes, document control, and revision procedures
• Support estimating and quoting efforts through technical reviews and engineering hour assessments
• Act as a technical liaison with customers throughout the project lifecycle
• Collaborate closely with project management, fabrication, machining, welding, and field service teams
• Identify and resolve design, integration, and scheduling challenges before they impact project delivery
• Lead hiring, onboarding, performance management, and professional development initiatives
• Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, tools, and systems

Profile

A successful Engineering Manager should have:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline preferred
• 7+ years of experience within industrial automation, custom machinery, automated manufacturing, or related environments
• 2+ years of engineering leadership, project leadership, or supervisory experience
• Experience with compliance engineering and risk assessment
• Proven ability to balance technical engineering responsibilities with team leadership
• Working knowledge of mechanical design and control systems
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
