Engineering ManagerWelbeHealth is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the API & Integration Platforms team. This role combines technical leadership with active engineering contributions, focusing on designing, developing, and delivering scalable APIs, cloud-native integrations, and AI/ML-enabled solutions within a highly regulated healthcare environment.The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills along with deep technical expertise in API architecture, Azure cloud services, distributed systems, and healthcare interoperability standards.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & DevelopmentLead the architecture, development, and deployment of APIs, microservices, and integration platformsContribute hands-on to coding, troubleshooting, and system design activitiesConduct code reviews and enforce engineering best practicesDesign scalable cloud-native solutions using Azure, Docker, and KubernetesBuild secure, high-performing, and compliant systemsAI/ML & AutomationSupport AI/ML-enabled services and integrationsImplement MLOps practices for deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle managementDevelop proof of concepts (PoCs) for emerging technologies and AI-driven solutionsTeam LeadershipMentor and guide engineering teamsDrive technical decision-making and solution deliveryAct as an escalation point for technical challengesFoster a collaborative and high-performing engineering cultureCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with Product, Cloud, Architecture, and Security teamsTranslate technical requirements into scalable integration strategiesCommunicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersSecurity & ComplianceEnsure systems align with HIPAA, PHI/PII, and healthcare compliance standardsSupport interoperability initiatives using FHIR, HL7, and EDI standardsMaintain secure authentication and authorization mechanisms using OAuth2, JWT, and Entra IDRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field8+ years of software engineering experience3+ years in a leadership role such as Engineering Manager, Lead Engineer, or Tech LeadHands-on experience with Python and/or Node.jsStrong expertise with Microsoft Azure cloud ecosystemExperience building REST/GraphQL APIs, microservices, and distributed systemsExperience with Docker and KubernetesKnowledge of OAuth2, JWT, and identity management solutionsExperience in healthcare, healthcare interoperability, or API-heavy environmentsStrong communication, collaboration, and leadership skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with AI/ML integrations or MLOps frameworksExperience with Azure AI, MLflow, Databricks, or related AI/ML platformsFamiliarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR, HL7, and EDIMaster’s degree preferredIdeal CandidateThe ideal candidate is a technically strong Engineering Manager who can balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on engineering work. This person should be comfortable leading teams while actively contributing to architecture, development, integrations, and cloud-native solutions in a healthcare-focused environment.
