Position Purpose: Facilitates hands‑on, experiential learning across the engineering curriculum by developing and running course‑based laboratory sessions and advising students on course‑based projects.

Required Qualifications (Education and Experience): Bachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications – Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering, science, or related field.
• Five years of post-graduate experience with engineering/scientific design and analysis.
• Broad technical knowledge spanning physics, mathematics, engineering, and related disciplines.
• Focused technical knowledge in two or more of the following engineering specialties: electrical, mechanical, energy/thermal, fluids, materials science, chemical, biological, mechatronics/control systems.
• Comfortable working in an engineering laboratory environment, including proficiency with standard electronic instrumentation and/or discipline‑specific equipment.
• Proficiency with an array of technical computing software packages (e.g. MATLAB, SolidWorks).
• Excellent analytical, communication, and teaching skills.
• Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse community.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree and/or significant industry experience preferred.
• Academic and/or teaching experience is an asset.

Key Accountabilities

Laboratory Instruction and Course‑Based Project Advising

• Leads group laboratory sessions for courses in the core undergraduate engineering curriculum. Serves a key pedagogical role in connecting theoretical principles with engineering practice. Some evening sessions may be required.
• May occasionally support laboratories for graduate‑level engineering courses.
• Facilitates consistent, high‑quality laboratory experiences across multiple laboratory sessions and course offerings.
• Coordinates with faculty to ensure that laboratory experiences are well‑matched with the learning objectives, lecture content, and progression of the overall course.
• Performs related administrative tasks, including scheduling laboratory sessions; updating laboratory manuals, guides, and other media; preparing, testing, and repairing laboratory materials; and evaluating student performance.
• Recruits, trains, and supervises laboratory teaching assistants.
• May perform in‑class demonstrations for supported courses.
• Advises students on open‑ended, course‑based projects which may include developing and running technical training sessions, assisting with engineering design and analysis, participating in informal or formal design reviews, and ensuring that student project work is conducted in a safe and professional manner.

Curriculum Planning and Development

• Works with faculty and the Director of Instructional Labs to conceive and develop new laboratory exercises, project experiences, and/or lecture demonstrations for engineering courses.
• May collaborate with faculty to publish the results of lab curriculum development work.
• At the request of the Dean, may serve on curricular working groups or committees.
