Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead engineering design and commissioning operations for a growing organization. The role oversees multidisciplinary engineering and commissioning teams, ensures successful project delivery, maintains strong client relationships, and supports business development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering design and commissioning teams to deliver projects that meet client requirements, quality standards, budgets, and schedules.
- Direct project managers, engineers, commissioning agents, commissioning technicians, and other technical staff.
- Assign projects based on team expertise, workload, and project requirements.
- Review and approve engineering designs, commissioning plans, specifications, and technical documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client expectations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and key stakeholders.
- Support business development efforts by participating in client presentations, proposal development, and marketing initiatives.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance management for engineering and commissioning staff.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve operational processes and project execution.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, operational efficiencies, and business growth.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- PMI Project Management certification required.
- Minimum five (5) years of project management experience within engineering design or commissioning.
- Prior leadership experience managing engineering and commissioning teams across multiple concurrent projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project.
- Strong knowledge of engineering design, commissioning processes, project management, and building systems.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and decision‑making skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present to clients and executive leadership.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high‑quality results.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting business development and client relationship management.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams within commercial building, construction, or commissioning environments.
