Engineering Assistant IIContract- 2 YearsClient- Southern Company Services.Location- Birmingham, ALPosition SummaryThe Engineering Assistant II supports the engineering management team by providing administrative, coordination, and analytical support to ensure engineering projects are executed efficiently and on schedule. This role plays a key part in project coordination, documentation control, communication, and reporting across engineering teams, contractors, and stakeholders.The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment while supporting multiple projects and priorities.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Coordination & DocumentationAssist in creating, organizing, and maintaining project documentation, including: Engineering plansProject schedulesBudgetsReports and supporting materialsEnsure all engineering-related documentation is accurate, current, and accessible to project teamsSupport document control and version management for engineering deliverablesCommunication & CoordinationFacilitate communication among engineering teams, project stakeholders, and contractorsPrepare and distribute engineering communications, including: Meeting agendasMeeting minutesStatus updates and reportsAssist in scheduling meetings, site visits, and project-related eventsProject & Financial SupportCoordinate with internal and external stakeholders to support timely completion of engineering milestonesAssist with monitoring project budgets and expensesSupport preparation of financial reports, forecasts, and cost tracking documentationData & ReportingCollect and analyze project data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunitiesPrepare summary reports and recommendations based on data analysisSupport engineering leadership with insights to improve project execution and efficiencyRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited institution Engineering degree preferred5–10 years of experience supporting engineering teams, projects, or operationsSkills & CompetenciesProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)Experience with project management software and basic data analysis toolsStrong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneouslyStrong problem-solving and analytical abilitiesAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentGeneral understanding of engineering activities, workflows, and project lifecyclesAbility to build effective working relationships with: Plant staffDesign engineering teamsVendors and contractorsPreferred AttributesExperience supporting engineering projects in industrial, utility, power, or manufacturing environmentsFamiliarity with engineering documentation standards and project controlsProactive mindset with the ability to anticipate needs and support engineering leadership
