Engineering AssistantLocation: Hybrid (Minimum two days per week at APC Corporate HQ, Alabama residency required) Work Hours: 36–40 hours/weekPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Engineering Assistant with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (engineering preferred). This role supports the engineering management team through administrative tasks, project coordination, and logistical support to ensure smooth project execution.The successful candidate will be involved in scope development, project management for Retail Customer Service Requests (CSRs), and Line Relocation requests. Additionally, this role supports Power Delivery's Retail Team in delivering transmission responses to customer care requests system-wide, including short circuit studies, excess facilities, and customer substation retirements.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in creating, organizing, and maintaining project documentation (engineering plans, schedules, budgets, and reports)Ensure all engineering documents are accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessibleFacilitate communication among project teams, stakeholders, and contractorsPrepare and distribute project communications, including meeting agendas, minutes, and status updatesSchedule meetings, site visits, and project-related eventsCoordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely project milestonesMonitor project budgets and expenses, assist with financial reporting and forecastingCollect and analyze project data, prepare summary reports, and recommend improvementsRequired Skills and QualificationsBachelor's degree from an A.B.E.T.-accredited institution (preferred degrees: Electrical, Industrial, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering)Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in project management for transmission, distribution, or utility projects (overhead/underground)Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams) and project management softwareStrong organizational skills with attention to detailExcellent verbal and written communication abilitiesProven problem-solving and multitasking skillsAbility to collaborate with diverse teams and build strong working relationships with plant staff, engineering teams, and vendorsPreferred QualificationsExperience with the SCS TEAMS estimating platformProficiency in Primavera (P6) scheduling softwareExperience coordinating projects involving Transmission Line Design, Substation Design, and Protection & Controls stakeholdersLeadership experience conducting onsite meetings and leading project scope developmentContract RequirementsHybrid schedule: At least 2 days/week on-site at APC Corporate HQMust be available for in-person meetings and site visits across AlabamaRemote work flexibility availableAlabama residency requiredReporting StructureThis role reports directly to the Interconnections - Retail Customer Service Supervisor.
