This position is based in Peoria, Illinois, USA, 61639 and is an onsite role.Job Overview: Responsible for completing general embedded software development assignments, as well as contributing to design teams on electrical projects for vehicle chassis, and/or components, and/or systems.Key Job Responsibilities:Develop and update software requirementsCreate embedded softwareWrite test requirements and required documentationSupport software releasing and implementationCommunicate effectively verbally and in writingWrite clear and concise memos including drafts of technical documentationMake presentations during Design ReviewsKeep Assistant Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer informed of project statusDevelop Quality Confirmation Check Sheets for design conceptsDiscuss, negotiate, and resolve specification issues with Manufacturing and SuppliersUnderstand and accommodate manufacturing capabilities and limitationsDetermine required quality confirmation tests and coordinate with Test DepartmentMeet Quality, Cost and Delivery targets established for the ProjectUtilize continuous improvement techniques to improve quality, reduce cost and lead timeMaintain effective Engineering Change ControlSupport Production of Prototype development by resolving problems with effective countermeasures and follow-up documentationSupport Service and QA departments by determining root cause of problems and developing effective countermeasuresPresent design concept, quality confirmation check sheet and design progress at Design Review MeetingsSupport Sales and Marketing by ensuring that product meets customer expectations and by developing special features as requiredTravel to machine worksites to participate in surveys, investigate problems, understand applications, determine customer expectations, install, and evaluate countermeasuresQualifications/Requirements:Bachelor's degree or its foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related fieldTwo years of progressively responsible, post-baccalaureate experience in a related fieldExperience with the following:Reading and writing C programming languageUsing Real-time and Linux operating systems to architect, develop, install, and troubleshoot custom applicationsReading circuit board schematics, writing software to control the circuits, and using tools to troubleshoot the circuits (multimeter, oscilloscopes, etc.)Creating technical documentation that explains how the system shall work and how to test the systemPerforming system failure mode analysis and risk assessments by applying electrical engineering principles to know how the system will react under different scenariosRemote Work: Ability to telecommute within normal commuting distance of the worksite one day per week.Travel: 5% (1-2 weeks/year) domestic or international travelBenefits: Komatsu provides an extensive and robust employee benefits package that is designed to enhance the well-being of our employees and family members.Hiring Range: $$92,789/year - $117,000/year.
