Position Summary
The Engagement Director holds executive accountability for the full multi-year San Bernardino County SARA engagement (3-year mandatory term plus up to two optional 1-year extensions). This role is the primary escalation point for County leadership and ensures the firm delivers Prong-One, Prong-Two, and Prong-Three commitments on time, on budget, and to NIST/HIPAA standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the overall contract relationship and serve as executive sponsor to the County's CISO and Project Steering Committee.
- Approve staffing, budget, and resource allocation across concurrent department engagements.
- Escalation point for scope changes, disputes, and performance issues raised during the engagement.
- Review and approve final department and combined project status reports before submission to the County.
- Represent the firm in contract negotiations and Notice of Intent to Award discussions.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years in cybersecurity consulting or IT risk management, including 5+ years in an executive or engagement‑leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated experience delivering large, multi-year public-sector or healthcare security assessment contracts.
- Working knowledge of NIST SP 800-30/37/53 and HIPAA Security/Privacy Rule frameworks.
- Excellent executive communication and contract negotiation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with California county or state government contracts.
- CISSP, CISM, or equivalent executive-level security certification.
Travel
Periodic travel to Colton, CA for executive briefings and Steering Committee meetings; otherwise hybrid.
