Position
Airswift is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Engineer to work on a long-term contract supporting battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.
Location
Juno Beach (preferred); open to remote with additional travel (~25%) for in-office visits.
Responsibilities
- Support design phase and engineer major components for large-scale energy storage projects.
- Recognize inconsistencies in engineering drawings, take corrective action, and strive for better design quality and efficiency.
- Identify and resolve errors in engineering studies and suggest future solutions.
- Prepare technical scopes of work for contracts.
- Support projects from inception to completion by working closely with project managers.
- Influence project teams on engineering tasks.
- Stay updated on project progress and technical issues.
- Manage project milestones and recognize risks.
- Collaborate with suppliers to integrate major equipment.
- Work with diverse teams to solve problems, improve opportunities, and integrate systems and controls.
- Understand specifications for major equipment purchasing, ensure clear communication, and propose solutions.
- Understand permitting requirements, propose solutions to legal challenges, and recommend site design improvements.
- Handle other assigned duties as needed.
Requirements
- 5+ Years experience in Solar/PV Engineering and/or Construction.
- Expertise in one or more of Power electronics, Battery storage system design, Substation design, Generation tie design.
- Familiarity with energy storage technologies, including battery chemistries, power conversion units, and DC/DC converters.
- Familiarity with lithium-ion battery storage safety standards (UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, applicable IFC/IBC sections).
- Familiarity with IEC 61215, 61646, 61730.
- Ability to handle specialized technical tasks independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
