Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Director, Quality Improvement.
In this role, the successful candidate Assists the Associate Director of Quality and Patient Care Services in the overall management of the (QI/Clinical Systems Integration) department. Reporting directly to the Associate Director, the Assistant Director of Quality Improvement will oversee a portfolio of projects focused on two main areas: reducing disparities across the cancer continuum and system-level improvements targeting FHC laboratory workflows.
The Assistant Director of QI is responsible for strategic planning and project management across cancer diseases (e.g. breast, cervical, colorectal) contributing to the development, implementation and process improvement of network-wide initiatives related to cancer.
o Plans, directs and manages all improvement activities in collaboration with appropriate administrators.
o Ensures clear communication of activities to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
o Understands and trains staff regarding the various components of the New York State Department of Health Cancer Services Program (CSP).
o In collaboration with the Program Coordinator, assures the integrity and timeliness of CSP data submission as requested by New York State Department of Health.
o Collaborates with the Information Technology team to streamline and use technology to facilitate the overall quality improvement activities, which would include data collection, metrics development, and publication of metrics and or improvement results. Also to complete building of breast and cervical cancer registries.
o Coordinates with NYULHs Perlmutter Cancer Center (PCC) as well as with departments within NYULH with cancer-related projects, to ensure seamless interdisciplinary integration of and forward movement of programmatic, quality improvement, and research projects.
is responsible for process improvement projects related to FHC laboratory workflows and will be expected to serve as the primary point of contact and accountable party for assigned deliverables
o Acts as a liaison for laboratory services in the FHC.
o In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Operations, ensure training of all clinical staff in ordering and collecting specimens.
o Works with the Assistant Director of Patient Safety/Risk in ensuring timely investigation and communication with stakeholders relating to incidents.
o Works as a liaison between sites and laboratory stakeholders coordinating communication of up to date contact numbers.
o Develops and tracks high-risk results to ensure timely treatment and reporting.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Placement of PCC and DPH community health workers at clinic locations and FHC outreach supporting process improvement to facilitate full integration into FHC workflows. 2. Implementation and program oversight of government-funded cancer initiatives for the uninsured (e.g., NYSDOH Cancer Services Program). 3. Optimization of Quality Department Tableau dashboards targeting UDS metrics for cancer screenings and staff education to ensure utilization for QI cancer-related activities. 4. Assisting in cancer related grant submissions, standardization of FHC ambulatory referrals to PCC, and quality improvement projects related to cancer screening. 5. Assemble and maintain cancer-focused and laboratory-related project plans and documentation and/or program progress including development of process and outcome metrics to measure project success integrating UDS report metrics where appropriate. 6. Identify cancer-related and laboratory workflow inefficiencies and gaps performing data analyses with the goal of identifying solutions for process improvement related to operational and quality outcomes. 7. Use standardized project management tools to track key milestones, owners, and target completion dates anticipating project needs and able to balance competing priorities across multiple workflows. 8. Assists the Assistant Director of Patient Safety/Risk with the biannual Peer Review process by developing a standardized report that identifies appropriate patients and automate provider emails. 9. Works with the Assistant Director of Patient Safety/Risk in summarizing and distributing results 10. Facilitate project team meetings by providing administrative support as needed, including setting meeting objectives/agendas, noting key decisions, and following up on action items. 11. Identify potential economies of scale and collaborative opportunities across assigned areas/projects. 12. Streamlines processes and protocols by reducing redundancy where necessary and filling gaps. 13. Synthesize complex information in high-quality deliverables for recommendations to key stakeholders and presentation to senior leadership. 14. Build and promote constructive working relationships with all stakeholders, using good judgement to provide objective recommendations. 15. Collaborate with departmental and FHC leadership, human resources, finance, MCIT, analytics, departments outside the FHC and other corporate services as needed.Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Masters degree in related field
4 + years of progressive health care industry experience
Experience in the quality improvement and or risk management fields
Experience in driving quality initiatives through an implemented electronic medical record, or similar systems
Strong verbal communications skills with presence and comfort communicating with all levels of organizational leadership as well as staff
Proficiency in project management and management of resources to meet goals and multiple projects
Successful supervisory experience of staff working with end users to develop effective solutions to diverse and complex problems
Initiative, good judgment and the ability to achieve results
Success in developing and implementing improvement processes and re-designed work processes
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification
Exceptional grasp of information technology and emerging technologies
Ability to translate detailed and complex data into understandable conclusions, offer solution options and discuss organizational impact of each option
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Excel
Proficiency with MS PowerPoint.
Strong customer focus and management of technology user expectations: ability to establish and maintain a high level of user trust and confidence
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to apply skills and techniques to solve dynamic problems; excellent teamwork skills
Must be able to work independently but seek guidance when necessary, escalating issues as required
Ability to organize and plan tasks with meticulous attention to detail

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $79,698.01 - $132,830.38 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
