Job Duties

• Diagnoses and treats disorders of the endocrine system including hormone production by the pituitary glands, pancreas, thyroid and other internal organs.
• Patient conditions treated include diabetes, thyroid disease, obesity, infertility, osteoporosis and metabolic disorders.
• Performs physical examinations and symptom review to aid in diagnosis along with excitation/stimulation or inhibition/suppression laboratory testing analysis.
• Evaluates diagnostic imaging of endocrine organs to determine disease presentations.
• Performs diagnostic procedures including fine needle biopsies, blood glucose monitoring and bone density testing.
• Helps diabetic patients control their blood sugar through continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pump management; prescribes hormone replacement therapies for women undergoing menopause; creates diet and exercise regimens for patients with lipid disorders; and provides hospital consultations as necessary.

Required Minimum Position Qualifications

• Doctorate in Medicine, Osteopathy, or foreign equivalent
• Must be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine in Iowa.
• Board Certified/Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Internal Medicine.
• Successful completion of fellowship in Endocrinology.
