Job Overview

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategy and actively manage a caseload.
  • Collaborate with co-counsel and opposing counsel.
  • Independently draft complaints, discovery, and motions.
  • Communicate with clients and witnesses.
  • Conduct discovery, including taking and defending depositions.
  • Independently attend court hearings.
  • Draft and argue motions, including motions for class certification.
  • Work with expert witnesses, particularly in financial and statistical fields.
  • Assist in trial preparations.
  • Manage settlement negotiations and participate in mediation.
  • Take cases to trial and arbitration, if necessary.

Requirements

  • JD degree from an accredited law school and active California bar membership in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3‑4 years of substantive employment litigation experience.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions and managing discovery.
  • Knowledge of law and motion, including experience arguing motions.
  • Working knowledge of California Civil Procedure and Federal Rules of Court.
  • Strong analytical research and writing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in developing and sustaining client relationships.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team‑oriented environment.
  • Commitment to representing employees and protecting their rights.

Education, Certifications, and Skills

  • Education: JD degree from an accredited law school.
  • Certification: Active California bar membership in good standing.
