Responsibilities
- Develop strategy and actively manage a caseload.
- Collaborate with co-counsel and opposing counsel.
- Independently draft complaints, discovery, and motions.
- Communicate with clients and witnesses.
- Conduct discovery, including taking and defending depositions.
- Independently attend court hearings.
- Draft and argue motions, including motions for class certification.
- Work with expert witnesses, particularly in financial and statistical fields.
- Assist in trial preparations.
- Manage settlement negotiations and participate in mediation.
- Take cases to trial and arbitration, if necessary.
Requirements
- JD degree from an accredited law school and active California bar membership in good standing.
- Minimum of 3‑4 years of substantive employment litigation experience.
- Experience taking and defending depositions and managing discovery.
- Knowledge of law and motion, including experience arguing motions.
- Working knowledge of California Civil Procedure and Federal Rules of Court.
- Strong analytical research and writing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in developing and sustaining client relationships.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team‑oriented environment.
- Commitment to representing employees and protecting their rights.
Education, Certifications, and Skills
- Education: JD degree from an accredited law school.
- Certification: Active California bar membership in good standing.
