The termination meeting took eleven minutes. The agency charge that followed runs to forty pages. Somebody has to answer every one of them, then take the deposition, then stand up at the hearing.

I'm recruiting employment attorneys for the Baltimore office of a national Am Law 100 firm. Note the plural. They have more than one seat to fill, and two years of experience is the floor, with experienced attorneys at every level welcome.

Associate pay runs $100,000 to $165,000. If you're further along, there's a senior counsel band of $140,000 to $215,000, so the firm can hire at two levels and place you where your experience fits. On top: discretionary and performance based bonuses, student loan repayment assistance and a full benefits package. Hybrid, with remote options.

What the work looks like

• Employment litigation from the first demand letter through to trial.
• Client contact early on. Expect your name on the email thread and your number in their phone.
• Hearings, depositions and trials. Associates here are given the chance to handle all three.
• Mentorship and professional development built into the firm, which is nationally recognized for how it recruits, keeps and promotes women and diverse attorneys.

What you'll need

• An active Maryland license.
• Two or more years of litigation. Employment experience is the natural fit.
• Motions and discovery experience helps. It isn't required.
• Sharp writing, a strong academic record and the habit of getting on with an assignment without anyone checking in.
