Job Summary

The Employment Litigation Associate will support the company’s employment-related litigation and dispute resolution matters. This role focuses on handling employment claims, advising on workplace risk, and supporting broader litigation matters as needed in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support employment-related claims, including wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and PAGA matters.
  • Respond to administrative agency charges (e.g., EEOC, DFEH/CRD, Labor Commissioner).
  • Draft position statements, settlement agreements, and litigation documents.
  • Partner with HR and internal stakeholders on pre‑litigation dispute resolution and risk mitigation.
  • Assist with broader litigation matters such as commercial disputes, consumer claims, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, and discovery responses.
  • Support case strategy development and fact investigations.
  • Provide practical legal advice to HR and business teams on employee relations matters, employment practices, and policies.
  • Help develop and update employment-related policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Identify trends in claims and recommend proactive risk mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel on employment litigation matters, managing deadlines, strategy alignment, budgets, and e‑discovery processes.
  • Maintain organized case files and assist with reporting and tracking of claims.

Preferred Experience

  • Supporting in‑house legal teams or working with corporate clients.
  • Exposure to multi‑state or international employment issues.
  • Experience in e‑commerce, retail, or consumer‑facing industries.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience handling employment claims, including agency charges and civil litigation.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws (e.g., FLSA, Title VII, ADA, FEHA, PAGA).
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong judgment and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to translate legal risk into practical business guidance.
  • Collaborative and cross‑functional mindset.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong prioritization ability for multiple competing matters.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management.

Equipment Knowledge

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred.

Education and Bar

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $140,000 – $160,000 USD, subject to experience, education, location, and internal equity.
