This is a hybrid position that requires working three days per week in the office and two days per week at home.The employee communications specialist position develops and distributes content geared at keeping our employees informed, engaged and inspired through a holistic employee communications approach.
Using a variety of channels, the employee communications specialist creates content that captures engagement and targets information to employee audiences. The primary focus for this position is employee communications, with opportunities to support efforts across other communications disciplines (social media, campaigns and national marketing) to increase content leverage, message visibility and content pipeline. This position reports to the senior director of communications.Essential FunctionsThe employee communications specialist will be responsible for the following priorities:Collaborate with broader communications team (including group communications team when applicable), local marketing teams and functional department leaders to identify, develop and execute communications needsEmploy the creative content development process to produce compelling copy for a broad array of channels and audiencesBe able to turn complex technical topics into approachable and relatable content that appeals to our various stakeholder audiencesProduce bi-monthly digital employee newsletter, including but not limited to collect and/or edit articles, images and other supporting assets from content contributors, as well as write feature articles, headlines and subheads as assigned.
This will include basic sizing and cropping of images, sourcing brand applicable stock imagery and creation of simple supporting graphicsEdit and proof own work to ensure accuracy and alignment with brand style guide; work through revisions with various stakeholders to deliver approved content on deadlinePartner with employee communications manager on the creation/distribution of other employee communications such as memos and employee events and meeting invitationsMaintain and update all relevant information in employee communications platform, including saved distribution lists, tags, etc.Work with team producing leadership's virtual (MS Teams) all employee meetings, including share presentations, videos, monitor Q&A and other 'back of house' activitiesCreate and deploy weekly line up of screensaver contentCreate gifs for use on various employee communications channelsCreate digital signage content published to tvs at offices and jobsitesPerform and/or coordinate other activities as assignedMinimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in communications, marketing or a related field5-plus years of relevant experienceFamiliar with Adobe softwareHaving basic graphic design and video/gif creation skills is a plus but not requiredAdditional RequirementsMust be based in Dallas, TX and willing to work in office or on a two-day remote hybrid scheduleOpen to travel if necessaryBalfour Beatty is an equal opportunity employer that recognizes the value of a diverse workforce.
