Employee Benefits Attorney
We are seeking a motivated mid-level associate with at least 2 years of relevant experience to provide comprehensive counsel on employee benefits and executive compensation issues. The ideal candidate will support transactional, advisory, and compliance work, collaborating closely with colleagues in Employment & Labor, Tax, Corporate, and other practice groups to deliver integrated solutions for clients.
Key responsibilities include advising clients on the design, drafting, implementation, amendment, and termination of tax-qualified retirement plans, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, and executive compensation programs. Additionally, providing guidance on health and welfare benefit plans, ensuring compliance with ERISA fiduciary duties, conducting due diligence and advising on employee benefits aspects of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and corporate restructurings, and drafting plan documents, amendments, summary plan descriptions, participant communications, and related agreements.
Qualifications include a J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the Pennsylvania Bar, minimum of 2 years of experience in employee benefits and executive compensation law, strong academic credentials, excellent research, drafting, and analytical skills, in-depth knowledge of ERISA, IRC Sections 401-409/457/409A, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other relevant federal and state laws, experience with qualified and non-qualified plans, fiduciary compliance, and transactional benefits work, proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, client-focused environment, outstanding communication, interpersonal, and client-service skills, and commitment to professionalism, integrity, and teamwork in a collaborative setting.
