The Job
Part‑time Emergency Veterinarian
What You’ll Do
- Answer medical questions over the phone
- See patients immediately as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes, our customer‑centered approach
- Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and physical exam data
- Perform physical examinations, ultrasounds, X‑rays, bloodwork, biopsies, and other investigative procedures
- Diagnose each case and develop a diagnostic and therapeutic plan
- Communicate diagnosis and treatment options directly with customers
- Prepare and present estimates to customers
- Create and review medical records to ensure accuracy
- Explain test and treatment value to customers and address concerns
- Perform minor and major emergency surgeries
- Perform endoscopic procedures
- Educate customers on after‑care and preventive measures where appropriate
What You Need
- DVM or equivalent degree
- Experience in emergency medicine, including soft‑tissue emergency surgery and endoscopy
- Team‑oriented mindset; collaborative across hospital functions
- Physical stamina: standing for prolonged periods, kneeling, floor work, lifting up to 25 kg alone and up to 40 kg with assistance
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as‑needed basis
- Adaptability in a fast‑paced, diverse environment
