Schedule: Flexible scheduling: Full-time (12 shifts/month) or Part-time (6–8 shifts/month)

Join the Virginia Veterinary Centers team in Midlothian, in our brand-new facility! This modern 10,200 sq. ft. emergency and specialty hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art medical, surgical, and diagnostic tools. We are looking for skilled and compassionate Emergency Veterinarians to be part of our growing team!

At our Midlothian facility, we currently provide Emergency, Urgent Car,e and Internal Medicine services and are in the process of building out a dedicated and collaborative ER department, shaped by the voices and expertise of our team members. Collaborating with our Richmond and Short Pump locations, we ensure seamless case transfers and continued specialty care, all while maintaining a casual and supportive atmosphere. Our location offers a peaceful environment for those seeking to practice with a close-knit team without the complexities often associated with multi-specialist practices.

  • $150k-$175k base salary with 24%-25% production (no negative accrual)

In your day-to-day, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality emergency and critical care to a diverse caseload of companion animals.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients presenting with urgent and emergent medical conditions.
  • Provide comprehensive emergency care through a balanced mix of receiving new emergency cases, triaging incoming patients, and managing hospitalized patients throughout their course of treatment.
  • Perform emergency procedures and stabilize critically ill or injured patients using evidence-based medicine.
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.

What You Bring

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
  • Completion of a rotating internship or experience practicing emergency medicine is preferred (or equivalent clinical experience).
  • Confidence managing emergency cases and making sound clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
  • A passion for continuous learning, teamwork, and advancing emergency veterinary medicine.
