The Role

• Provide emergency and critical care for small animal patients in a high-acuity, referral-based setting
• Triage, stabilize, diagnose, and manage urgent and emergent presentations
• Perform common emergency procedures and coordinate surgical case flow as needed
• Utilize on-site imaging and in-house lab resources to guide rapid, evidence-based decisions
• Oversee and manage ICU cases, including advanced monitoring and supportive therapies
• Collaborate with specialists to deliver comprehensive, integrated care
• Communicate clearly with pet owners and referring veterinarians
• Support and mentor technical staff and contribute to continuous quality improvement
• Shifts may include days, swings, overnights, weekends, and holidays

Requirements

• DVM/VMD degree (or equivalent) from an accredited institution
• Active California veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain prior to start)
• DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain)
• Authorization to work in the United States
• Comfort with high-acuity emergency caseloads and ICU care; internship training or prior ER experience preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and client communication skills
• Ability to work varied hours in a 24/7 hospital environment
