As an Emergency Veterinarian at VEG, you will manage a wide range of emergency cases for all types of animal patients, perform surgeries, conduct diagnostics, and provide customer‑centered care. Your role requires working nights, weekends, and holidays in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment while leading on the floor and mentoring colleagues.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Answer medical questions over the phone
  • See patients promptly as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes, ensuring immediate care and allowing families to stay with their pets
  • Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and perform physical examination
  • Conduct physical examinations and required investigations such as ultrasounds, X‑rays, bloodwork, and biopsies
  • Complete a diagnosis and develop a diagnostic and therapeutic plan
  • Communicate diagnosis and treatment options directly with clients
  • Prepare and present estimates to clients
  • Create and review medical records for accuracy
  • Explain the value of tests and treatments performed, addressing client concerns
  • Perform minor and major emergency surgeries
  • Perform endoscopic procedures
  • Educate clients on after‑care and preventive measures when appropriate

WHAT YOU NEED

  • A DVM or equivalent degree
  • Experience and passion for emergency medicine, including soft‑tissue emergency surgery and endoscopy
  • Ability to thrive in a team‑oriented environment
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, kneel, and lift up to 25 kg independently or 40 kg with assistance
  • Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as‑needed basis based on hospital needs
  • Comfort working in a fast‑paced environment with diverse individuals
