What the role is

At inkwell, our philosophy is simple: medicine is at its best when it comes from a team that feels supported and empowered. When we give the people who practice the medicine the resources and the room to do it well, good care follows. You would be the doctor on the floor of an emergency clinic where our people are the priority. You would work closely with a strong team to triage, work up cases, stabilize, and treat dogs and cats in a transparent, welcoming space. This is emergency medicine; it just doesn\'t feel like it does elsewhere.

The medicine is real ER. You will perform minor sedated or anesthetized procedures, such as wound repairs, unblocking, and enucleations, and stabilize and transfer anything that belongs in an operating room. You will manage hospitalized patients alongside a healthy outpatient caseload. And you will aim for high-level, gold-standard medicine while staying flexible about what "gold standard" means for the patient and family in front of you.

The way we strive to practice is genuinely team-based. You will guide the care while the technicians and assistants around you work at the top of their license. The better the team runs, the more room you have to guide cases and teach.

As career emergency doctors, we are spoiled by the equipment we use at the specialty referral centers we grew up in. So we built a diagnostic suite that lets us perform the best medicine we know how.

When there\'s a good case for adding equipment, we\'re listening.

All of our veterinarians came up as emergency doctors inside specialty and referral centers. All ER doctors at inkwell need a real feel for the capabilities and limitations of practicing high-level emergency care in a mostly outpatient clinic.Working in a small and privately owned clinic brings real autonomy and a genuine hand in building something; but it also brings variability and a number of frustrations. As we grow, we are looking for people who aren’t intimidated by those challenges.

Full-time is 12 shifts in a four-week block (about 13 a month), in a mix of 10- and 12-hour days. We\'re closed Tuesdays, weekends are part of the rotation, and no overnight shifts are expected in this role.
