In 2014, VEG was born with a mission to help people and their pets when they need it most. The company challenged the status quo and overhauled the emergency care experience, expanding rapidly to several hospitals nationwide that operate 24/7, 365 days a year. THE JOB
As an Emergency Veterinarian, you will handle all types of emergency cases, from routine treatment to complex surgeries, including exotic animals. You will lead the floor team, act as a customer advocate, and continually develop your knowledge through on-the-floor guidance, VEG Education programs, and unlimited ER‑focused CE.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Answer medical questions over the phone
- Create and conduct triage and spikes to bring patients to care quickly
- Collect signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and perform physical exams
- Perform required investigations such as ultrasounds, X‑rays, bloodwork, and biopsies
- Diagnose each pet and devise a diagnostic and therapeutic plan
- Communicate diagnosis and treatment options directly with customers
- Prepare and present cost estimates to customers
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Advocate for tests and treatments by addressing customer concerns
- Perform minor and major emergency surgeries
- Perform endoscopic procedures
- Educate customers on after‑care and preventive measures
WHAT YOU NEED
- A DVM or equivalent degree
- Experience in emergency medicine, including soft‑tissue surgery and endoscopy
- Strong teamwork skills and enthusiasm for a hospital culture (retreats, team dinners, happy hours)
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods, kneel, lift up to 25 kg independently, and support up to 40 kg with assistance
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays on a rotating or as‑needed basis
- Comfort working in a fast‑paced, noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
