Job Summary
Collaborates with the physician and healthcare team in the delivery of patient care using the nursing process; provides professional nursing care to patients, including nursing assessments, assisting with exams and treatment, patient education, and maintenance of medical records. Hiring considerations for RNs reflect experience levels (newly licensed RN under supervision, <1 year, 1–3 years, 3–10 years, 10+ years).
Shift: FT/Evenings/3:00pm – 3:00am
Emergency Room RN Experience Preferred
- Self-schedule with guidelines
- 3/4 schedule – 3 shifts one week of the pay period and up to 4 shifts the other week of the pay period
- 8-, 10-, and 12-hour night shifts
- 12-hour shifts for 3P – 3A (14:45 – 03:15)
- Availability to work three Mondays, three Fridays, three Saturdays and three Sundays
- Weekends are not assigned and can be flexibly split; not required to work Saturday/Sunday consecutive days, but must be available to cover as outlined
Job Description & Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing; Bachelor of Nursing preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing
- Certified in Basic Life Support
- Additional certifications may be required based on discipline and/or nursing unit requirements
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- RN I < 1 year
- RN II = 1–3 years
- RN III = 3–10 years
- RN IV = 10+ years
- Effective oral and written communication skills
Principal Accountabilities
- Delivers safe and appropriate care to patients according to nursing skills inventory and patient/population needs.
- Coordinates nursing care planning with an interdisciplinary team and makes appropriate clinical decisions.
- Collaborates with, directs, and may delegate to the healthcare team to achieve positive outcomes based on data, research, and standards of care.
- Coordinates treatment plans; develops/implements discharge and/or transfer plans.
- Participates in evaluation of programs, process improvement and patient-centered outcomes.
- Addresses the diverse needs of patients throughout the continuum of care to provide high-quality service and optimize the patient experience.
- Adheres to regulatory standards and Memorial Hermann policies, ensuring safety for patients, staff, and visitors; manages resources, time, and quality of service.
- Supports professional growth through mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; may serve as preceptor, mentor or resource to less experienced staff.
- Demonstrates commitment to compassionate, personalized care and models Memorial Hermann service standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
