Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a full-time Emergency Room Consultation Psychiatrist to provide telepsychiatry services within their emergency rooms. This role involves evaluating patients, determining appropriate disposition, completing documentation, and collaborating with emergency room teams. The psychiatrist will also work with the Clinical Command Center to facilitate patient transfers and optimize patient flow within the health system.

- Working in the Mount Sinai Health System Emergency room via telemedicine
- Working closely with members of the system emergency room teams, including physicians, social workers, and nursing staff
- Working closely with the Clinical Command Center to help facilitate transfers of psychiatric patients and optimize patient flow within the health system
Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric consultation to various emergency rooms when requested across the Mt Sinai Health System and follow up as needed on cases previously consulted on
- Meet with patients in emergency rooms individually over a telehealth platform, perform a psychiatric evaluation and provide disposition planning
- Complete documentation required for clinical care and billing in a timely fashion and in keeping with institutional standards
- Review findings and plan with requesting physician as and when requested or needed
- Work closely with the Command and Transfer Center to optimize transfers from within the MSHS and also assists with external agencies requesting a transfer /bed in the MSHS
- Determine suitability for transfer and best location based on clinical and logistic factors
- Adhere to all policies and procedures applying to the telehealth within the MSHS and the policies at large in the Department of Psychiatry
Compensation
- Compensation range from $225K to $320K (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)
- The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits
Requirements
- Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrist
- Possess NYS license to practice medicine
- Qualifications for Assistant Professor or higher level required
