Position Overview:
Emergency Medicine Physicians will provide 24/7/365 coverage in both the Main Emergency Department and SuperTrack/Fast Track at NNMC, including day, evening, weekend, holiday, and nocturnist shifts. Physicians will treat the full range of emergent and urgent conditions in a rural, resource-limited IHS hospital serving the Navajo Nation. The role requires collaboration with ED staff, hospitalists, specialists, and other clinical personnel while maintaining timely documentation and compliance with IHS, CMS, Joint Commission, HIPAA, and facility standards.
Schedule:
Typically 10- or 12-hour shifts, with 8-hour shifts possible based on department needs. Providers may be required to assist with urgent staffing needs with as little as 24 hours' notice. Absences exceeding 8 hours generally require 15 calendar days' advance notice, except for verifiable emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Emergency Medicine
- Minimum 3 years of Emergency Medicine experience
- At least 500 ED clinical hours within the previous 12 months
- Current, unrestricted U.S. MD/DO license
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS
- Fitness-for-duty certification and required immunization documentation
- Ability to pass IHS credentialing and Level I/II background checks
- English proficiency and basic computer skills
- Valid driver's license if required for the position
Preferred Experience:
Prior experience in rural, resource-limited, Tribal, or Indian Health Service settings is preferred.
Clinical Environment:
NNMC is a federal IHS hospital serving the Navajo Nation. The ED consists of a Main ED and SuperTrack/Fast Track , with continuous physician coverage required.
