We are seeking a highly skilled Emergency Medicine Physician for an exciting locum tenens opportunity in South Dakota. This 35-day assignment begins Nov 16, 2024, offering night shifts from 8 PM to 8 AM and day shifts from 8 AM to 8 PM. The role involves providing comprehensive emergency medicine care, including advanced procedures like intubation and line placement, evaluating and stabilizing acute medical conditions, and managing patient transfers as needed.
Practice Info
- EMR: RPMS
- Setting: Inpatient
- Patients per day: Approximately 1 patient per hour per provider, with an annual ED volume of 14,800
- Staffing Mix: The locum acts as the solo physician, supported by an APP (7 PM–7 AM), an additional APP (starting at 7 AM), two MFA's, four RN's, and a mid-shift MD until 12 AM
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency medicine care, including intubation, ventilation management, line placement, and other ER procedures.
- Evaluate and stabilize patients presenting with acute medical conditions, including trauma, cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, stroke, and other emergencies.
- Stabilize and transfer patients requiring a higher level of care.
- Manage OB emergencies and deliveries when needed, with transfer options available via Life Flight for higher-level care.
