• Hospitalists admit 85% of patients from the Emergency Department
• Stroke patients who receive fibrinolytic or who meet criteria for arterial thrombectomy are transferred to San Antonio after consultation with a Tele‑Neurologist
• Specialty backup includes 24/7 cardiology (including cath lab and most cardiologists do PE thrombectomies), general surgery, ortho, and OB/GYN
• Interventional radiology available during the week
• Vascular surgery coverage averaging 20‑25 days per month
• Urology coverage 50% of the time

• Staffing Model:
  • 10‑hour shifts
  • 3 Physician shifts per day (total 30 hours)
  • 3 APP shifts per day (total 30 hours)
  • Shifts flex 1‑2 hours up or down based on volumes
• EMR: Meditech
• BC (or BE) in Emergency Medicine (preferred) or BC in FP/IM with a minimum of five years of ED experience
• Stroke certified; however, still transfer patients who require lytics and/or arterial thrombectomy
• Primary Stroke Center certification expected by end of 2025
