A Freestanding Emergency Department in Independence, Missouri, is seeking a Locums Emergency Medicine Physician. This role offers coverage in a supportive, lower-acuity emergency care setting, ideal for a physician who thrives in a collaborative environment with APP support and manageable patient volumes. Practice Info
- Setting: Freestanding Emergency Department
- Patient Volume: Approximately 1.6 patients per hour across the department
- Admission Rate: Approximately 5% or less
- Department Setup: 0 treatment rooms and 1 triage space
- Patient Acuity: Primarily low-acuity cases with occasional higher-acuity walk-in patients
- Trauma Designation: Freestanding site is not a trauma center; affiliated main facility is a Level II Trauma Center
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients presenting with a variety of emergency and urgent medical conditions
- Perform standard Emergency Department procedures within scope of practice
- Identify and stabilize higher-acuity patients requiring transfer or escalation of care
- Collaborate with APPs, nursing staff, and support teams to provide efficient patient care
- Document patient encounters accurately and complete required medical documentation
Shift & Schedule
- Shift Coverage: Days and nights available
- No call required
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
- Single physician coverage with APP support
Requirements
- Board Certified in Emergency Medicine
- Active Missouri medical license or ability to obtain licensure
- Current DEA registration
- ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and BLS certifications as required
