A community-based Emergency Department in Houston, Texas, is seeking a Locums Emergency Medicine Physician for an ongoing assignment. - 11-bed Emergency Department
- Annual volume of approximately 15,000-16,000 visits
- Average daily census of 30-40 patients
- Approximately 4-5 admissions per day (13% admission rate)
- Primarily young and generally healthy patient population
- Low-acuity practice setting
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of emergency medical conditions
- Perform standard Emergency Department procedures, primarily involving low- to moderate-acuity cases
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic evaluations
- Provide care for adult, pediatric, and gynecologic patients
- Coordinate care with consulting services, including pediatrics when needed
- Document patient encounters accurately using the facility's electronic medical record

Requirements
- ABEM Board Certification strongly preferred
- Physicians who are not Emergency Medicine boarded will be considered if they have extensive Emergency Department experience and are comfortable treating pediatric and gynecologic patients
- Active Texas medical license or ability to obtain licensure
- Current DEA registration
- ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and BLS certifications, as required
