Mercy Council Bluffs is seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine physician for 4 12 shifts per month , offering a variety of day, evening, and overnight shifts. With approximately 22,000 annual ED visits , strong APP support, and relatively limited trauma responsibilities, this assignment provides an appealing balance of clinical volume and manageable acuity.

• Annual ED Volume: Approximately 22,000 visits

  • 6:30 AM 2:30 PM
  • 1:30 PM 10:30 PM
  • 9:30 PM 6:30 AM
• Call: No traditional call; scheduled ED shifts
• Trauma: Limited trauma responsibilities

Physicians will provide routine Emergency Medicine care, including:

• Evaluation and treatment of emergency department patients
• Management of acute and emergent conditions
• Resuscitation and codes
• Coordination of admissions and transfers
• General ED procedures and patient management

The department's disposition profile includes approximately 77% discharges and 14% admissions , with additional observation and transfer activity.

This is a strong opportunity for an Emergency Medicine physician seeking flexibility, consistent patient volume, and substantial APP support . The limited trauma responsibilities and accessible transfer process can help create an efficient clinical environment while allowing physicians to maintain a flexible locum schedule.

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine
• Completion of an ACGME/AOA-approved Emergency Medicine residency
• Actively practicing Emergency Medicine within the past 12 months, or completed EM residency within the past 6 months
• Active Iowa medical license or IMLC pathway
• Iowa DEA
• ACLS, BLS, PALS, and ATLS
• Clean malpractice/background history preferred

IMLC: Iowa participates in the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact; eligible physicians may pursue Iowa licensure through the IMLC pathway.
