Overview
The North Alabama Emergency Medicine Fellowship offers a unique opportunity for primary‑care Physicians to become board certified in emergency medicine. The program is recognized by the American Academy of Emergency Physicians.
Highlights
- Clinical duties: 12‑14 shifts/month in the ED. Fellows participate in didactic lecture series each Thursday, learning high‑impact topics to prepare for EM Boards and future careers.
- Supplemented didactic lectures with longitudinal Board Prep throughout the year to help succeed on exam day.
- Special topics courses: ENT skills, orthopedics & splinting, dental emergency, multiple ultrasound courses.
- Unique fellowship seminars: Ballistics Injuries Seminar at a firearms center, NASCAR Experience at Talledega Speedway for MVAs & traumas, Snake Bite Symposium by wilderness medicine experts at Birmingham Zoo, multiple EMS and critical care ride‑along.
