Job Title: Planning/Zoning/Community Development
Hours
Per Diem (minimum of two 8‑hour shifts per month required).
Responsibilities
- Receives incoming calls in a regional dispatcher center for the towns of Belchertown, Hampden, and Wilbraham, including E911; dispatches police, fire, ambulance, animal control and public works emergency responders; operates LEAP/NCIC computer, keeps logs, and provides pre‑arrival instructions to callers including Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD).
Qualifications
- Must be certified in E‑911 and LEAPS, and pre‑arrival instructions, and be or become trained and certified in PowerPhone 911 call‑handling protocols within 90 days from date of hire.
- Emergency dispatch experience preferred.
- Courtesy and tact in dealing with others, ability to multitask and excellent oral communication skills essential.
