Located in East Meadow, Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) is Nassau County’s only public safety-net hospital, a Level I Trauma Center, and a 530-bed teaching hospital.

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Department Physician to join our team. The physician will provide high-quality emergency medical care to a diverse patient population in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. This position includes evaluating, diagnosing, stabilizing, and treating patients presenting with a wide range of emergent and urgent medical conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate, diagnose, stabilize, and treat patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
• Manage acute illnesses, injuries, trauma, and other medical emergencies.
• Order, perform, and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory testing.
• Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans and determine the need for admission, discharge, consultation, or transfer.
• Coordinate patient care with specialists, nursing staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
• Respond to medical and trauma emergencies in accordance with hospital protocols.
• Participate in the education and supervision of medical students, residents, and other trainees.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and continuing medical education activities.

Qualifications:

• Current license to practice medicine in the State of New York, or eligibility for a limited permit as applicable.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
• Ability to effectively manage patients in a high-volume, high-acuity Emergency Department.
