About the Practice
Lynchburg General Hospital, along with Centra Gretna Medical Center, Bedford Memorial Hospital, and Centra Southside Community Hospital, serves approximately 70,000 patients annually in central Virginia. The hospitals include a 54‑bed community hospital and a Level 2 trauma center with acute MI and stroke programs. A new 65‑bed emergency department and a behavioral health space are under construction.

Job Overview
We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to serve patients across multiple central Virginia facilities. The APP will work under medical direction, provide comprehensive patient care, and rotate among the four sites as required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct history and physical examinations, including review of systems and medication histories.
- Work under physician supervision to provide medical services at facility and outreach locations.
- Provide clinical support to nursing staff for complex patient care.
- Screen hospitalized patient charts for noninvasive testing and determine appropriate studies.
- Coordinate and implement discharge plans, including follow‑up care, diet, equipment, and medication.
- Complete progress notes, admission and discharge summaries, and collaborate with physicians for holistic care.
- Maintain current knowledge in your area of specialization.
- Advocate for patients, serving as a liaison between patient and physician.
- Provide patient and family education and support.
- Promote department efficiency and improvement; serve on committees as needed.
- Perform weekend rounds on a rotating basis as directed by the Medical Director.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant School.
- Current licensure in the State of Virginia as a Physician Assistant.
- ACLS certification (required only for LFM).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Emergency Department or Urgent Care setting.
