Emergency Department Coder

To support healthcare organizations, the part-time PRN Emergency Department Coder will accurately abstract and code data into electronic medical record systems, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines while maintaining a coding accuracy rate of 95% or better in a fully remote environment. Key responsibilities: Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to Emergency Department accounts following designated workflows Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements Communicate with physicians and Clinical Documentation staff to clarify clinical information and resolve coding issues Required qualifications: Possession of an approved AHIMA or AAPC coding credential Minimum of 2 years' coding experience, including both Profee and Facility coding Experience with Injections & Infusions coding Familiarity with Alterra and 3M or Lynx EMR systems Experience with both Profee and Facility leveling
