Overview
Barnes‑Jewish St. Peters Hospital is a 102‑bed community hospital in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. It offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, including the Siteman Cancer Center, Breast Health and Women’s Center, Cardiology Center, Neurosurgery Center, and Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center. The hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and holds Level II stroke certification. Its emergency department has dedicated rooms for children, pregnant women, heart attacks, eye injuries and critical medical conditions, providing focused Emergency care.
Role Purpose
Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within nursing standards of care.
Responsibilities
- Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment and educates patients and their families on managing illnesses or injury, including post‑treatment home care needs and medication administration.
- Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance, and participates in professional development.
- Develops, implements, and documents individualized plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with interprofessional team members and the patient, family or caregiver, ensuring communication of the plan across the continuum of care.
- Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care, considering patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, such as values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
- Maintains constant alertness and safe behavior as a safety‑sensitive position requires.
