Emergency Department Chief

The University of Rochester, Department of Emergency Medicine, is seeking a dedicated physician faculty member to lead the Emergency Department at Jones Memorial Hospital. This role involves serving as an attending physician and department chief at Jones Memorial Hospital, while also holding a faculty position at the University of Rochester, a tertiary care teaching facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for patient care, teaching residents and medical students, and participating in administrative functions and institutional committees.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Emergency Department at Jones Memorial Hospital
• Provide patient care and teach residents and medical students
• Participate in monthly division meetings, assigned administrative functions and institutional committees as requested
• Develop and implement departmental quality improvement and peer review programs
• Advise the hospital's administrative staff regarding policies, procedures and programs for the department
• Coordinate with designated provider scheduler to ensure safe staffing at all times
• Make recommendations to the hospital concerning medical staff appointment, reappointment, staff classification, delineation of clinical privileges and required levels of supervision for practitioners in the department
• Maintain a continuing review of the professional performance of all practitioners in the department

Compensation

• Individual salaries will be determined within the job's salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries
• Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process

Requirements

• BE/BC in Emergency Medicine
• NYS Medical License
