Emergency Communications Center Representative (Dispatcher)We are seeking a part-time, on-call Emergency Communications Center (ECC) Representative (Dispatcher) to work in our New York, NY location. Position is 8 hours per week. Shifts are variable--days, nights, weekend or overnight. Must have open, variable availability (will not work for someone with a full-time, 40 hours/week job).Under general supervision, the Emergency Communications Center Rep. coordinates and serves as a resource for daily operations of a program or service. Act as a liaison between program or service and its internal and external partners. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.Specific Responsibilities:Coordinate telephone dispatch (taking calls from the public, fellow Red Cross employees, Red Cross volunteers, as well as fire/police/911 dispatchers).Coordinating emergency responses.Reporting and keeping detailed records of services and calls.Where Your Career Is a Force for Good (Key Responsibilities):Implement and coordinate the day-to-day functions that support program or service operations.Develop workable program or service implementation plans.Support leadership in coordinating casework activities.
Respond to general inquiries. Schedule and coordinates requests for community-based presentations.Participate on small scale projects which require researching issues, information, data collection, and development of recommendations.Support leadership in coordinating educational and outreach programs.What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications):Education: High School or equivalent required.Experience: Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.Skills & Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness. Prioritize and plan work activities. Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. Maintain confidentiality and work with integrity and ethics. Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Ability to work on a team.Pay Information:The salary range for this position is (New York): $25.50. Note that the American Red Cross sets salary ranges aligned to a specific geographic location in which the work is performed. The stated salary range in this posting is an average. The specific salary information will be shared at the time of phone screening based upon your location and qualifications.Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic).
